Revelation 21

• Vs. 9 introduces the New Jerusalem

Revelation 22

• Talks about Jesus’ Second Coming
• This is the testimony of Christ
• Talks about not adding to the Bible

This ends our study on the book of Revelation.  We will be doing a new topical study every week starting next Wednesday night (February 10th).

Revelation 16

 • Bowl judgments are directed at the inhabitants of the earth, but not Satan.
 • See Ephesians 2:2
 • Seventh Bowl poured out into the air because that is Satan’s domain.
 • “It is done” is God saying that His judgments on the earth have all been completed.

Revelation 17

 • Deals with the New Babylon
 • Focus is on religious system
 • One world religion instituted and earth’s inhabitants will be led astray (e.g. like a cult)

Revelation 18

 • Deals with the New Babylon
 • Focus is on political system
 • War waged against God
 • The worst earthquake in the earth’s history will occur and destroy a lot of the New Babylon

Revelation 19

 • Celebration in heaven for Old Testament saints
 • Marriage of the Lamb
 • Vs. 11- Glorious Appearing of Jesus
 • Jesus comes with His army (the church)
 • The other nations will go to Jerusalem to destroy the city, but Jesus and His army will smite the nations that are trying to destroy Jerusalem.
 • The first two inhabitants of the final Hell are thrown into the Lake of Fire.
 • The Antichrist and the False Prophet are the first two inhabitants of the final Hell.
 • The Second Coming will be a physical return of Christ
 • It will be sudden and will take the earth’s inhabitants by surprise
 • Second Coming will be glorious and triumphant.
 • Jesus will be forceful when He returns the second time.
 • Those that were turned away from God by the Antichrist and the False Prophet will be judged.
 • Satan will be bound!
 • Second Coming will also be to save Israel, judge the nations, bless creation, and set up Christ’s Final Kingdom.

Revelation 13

 • The beast of the Sea is referring to the Antichrist.
 • The Antichrist will persecute both Christians and Jews
 • Verse 10 is a message from John to the believers right before the Antichrist reigns for 42 months
 • Vs. 11 (starts the discussion of the Second Beast)
 • The Second Beast will make both the earth, and those on the earth, worship the First Beast
 • The False Prophet and the Antichrist are going to be like best friends during this time
 • The False Prophet will be given power by the Antichrist
 • This power will be used to move the world towards a one world religion
 • The False Prophet (vs. 13) will have the power to perform miracles
 • The power to perform miracles will probably come from Satan
 • This is the point at which the Mark of the Beast will be instated
 • When the Mark takes effect, it will be nearly impossible for believers to physically survive on the earth (you have to have the Mark to be able to buy or sell).
 • By taking the Mark they will be considered property of Satan and under his influence
 • You cannot be a child of God and take the Mark of the Beast

Revelation 14

 • Talks about the 144,000.
 • This is not the same 144,000 that were mentioned earlier in Revelation
 • Pronouncement of the coming judgment
 • Preview of Armageddon
 • Preparing for the Last Judgments of God

Revelation 15

 We are skipping this chapter.

Revelation 11

The Two Witnesses

 • Likely to be Moses and Elijah
 • Both have supernatural ways to protect themselves
 • God gave them these powers to witness to those around them to show that God is mightier than the Antichrist.
 • Their death, and the events immediately after, is similar to that of Jesus.

Revelation 12

The Woman and the Dragon

 • The woman is Israel
 • The seven heads of the Dragon symbolize the future Roman Empire that will rise up during these times.
 • The ten horns are symbolizing the ten kings that will be in power when this new kingdom rises up.
Satan Thrown Down to Earth
 • Satan is confined to earth and he lashes out at Christ’s followers because he knows that the end is coming.
 • Satan is going to try to take down as many people with him as he can.

Revelation 10

 • Vs. 1-2:  a description of an angel, but WHO is it?  “A mighty angel” is referring to an angel, but not Jesus because He does not appear as an angel again after His resurrection.
 • Vs. 5-6:  the angel  did not want anymore “delay”; whatever was about to happen must have been very important (Read Deuteronomy 29:29, Daniel 8:26, Proverbs 25:2)
 • Vs. 9-11:  God’s Word is sweet, but it is often what we do not want to hear because God is calling us to change something(s) in our lives.

Sunday School- 11/8/09

John 1:1-14

  • Speaking of Jesus
  • vs.1: used to give a glimpse of the Trinity

Luke 15:1-7

Matthew 23:27-28

Revelation 3:7-13

  • Philadelphia:  “The Faithful Church”
    • different from rest of the world
      • trying to be holy as He is Holy
    • vs.7:  We have to trust Him; He can open doors that no one can open or close
    • they did not have much physical strength, but God’s strength was able to shine through
    • they did not deny His name
    • Daniel 9:27 and Matthew 24:21
      • you can lose spiritual rewards God has for you if you stop following Him and give up on Him
      • this is NOT saying that you can lose your salvation!!!!
      • we are to live EVERY day for Him!
  • Laodicea:  “The Lukewarm Church”; 1900-END TIMES
    • “The Modern Church”; this is speaking to US, today, right now!!!
    • No real ministry is recorded
    • Christ is the Final Truth
    • He says that they are doing NOTHING right!
    • They say that they believe, but they act and look like the rest of the world.
    • BEWARE of checklists!!!
    • They had a lot of material things;  You can have it all, and still have NOTHING!
    • They didn’t understand the ways of God.
    • They are deceiving themselves!
    • They didn’t have the spiritual eyes to see their sinful ways.
    • He promises to share His throne with us if we overcome the sin of being lukewarm.
    • “He who has an ear, let him hear”- that means that these letters apply to everyone and not just to the specific churches
      • this phrase in quotations is repeated (which means it’s important) at the end of each letter

Do what He has called you to do!!!   He will keep His promises!

Sunday School- 11/1/09

Sorry it has taken so long to update the blog; hopefully we will have updates done faster in the future.

“As you are going” is a very important “theme phrase”, if you will, that we’ve been using in our lessons over the past couple of months.  This phrase is important to us as Christians because God calls us to missions in our everyday life, not just on a mission trip.

  • Missions is not optional!!!
  • We are on mission in our daily life
  • Giving to missionaries is great, but it’s not enough.  We are called to GO!!!

See Isaiah 6:1-13
